Denelle, Astrid

Denelle, Astrid

The fire of creation has always burned in Astrid Denelle, who arrived in Québec at the age of 7 with her parent. She remembers being mesmerized by the vibrant illustrations in her favorite childhood book :  “Sleeping Beauty”; there began her passion par art, which was encouraged by her parents, particularly her father, himself a photographer.

By her youth, Denelle shows such promise that people close to her hear a calling, and Astrid trains as a painter…  However, she is seduced by another mode of expression :   drama.  Sure to have found her path, she devotes herself to that craft, and embarks upon a successful career as an actor...

Denelle hasn’t quite given up on her first love, and in 1993 she completes a certificate in Visual Arts, then continues her studies in Fine Arts, culminating in 2004 with her obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Université du Québec à Montréal.

When she paints, Astrid Denelle abandons herself to the movements, to the colours emerging freely on the canvas and from which appear her subjects, brimming with a vitality reflecting that of the artist and infused with her deep love and respect for nature, Earth, life and her perpetual quest for freedom.
