Lévesque, Benoit

Lévesque, Benoit

Born in 1964, Benoît Lévesque takes his first drawing classes in 1979, followed by an academic career geared towards visual arts.  In 1988 he obtains his bachelor’s degree in visual arts from Université Laval, followed in 1991 by a bachelor’s degree in graphic communication, from the same institution.

Each one of Lévesque’s paintings is an ode to nature.  His palette, rich with pure, vibrant colours is contrasted with secondary nuances, conferring force and vitality to the whole, while infusing it with softness.

« The subject in my paintings is a mere pretext.  The composition, the atmosphere, the light are its attributes.  What matters to me in a work of art, is that it stimulates and questions.  More, that it helps to further the awakening of our emotional baggage; to paint the impalpable. »
