Born in 1956, Louise Lauzon remembers her youth, when her father took the whole family to their St. Sauveur cottage where he painted with friends; Lauzon tries her hand at a few pen and ink drawings… the beginnings of her interest in the arts.
When she is fifteen, a friend takes her to Frère Jérôme’s workshop : her interest becomes passion and she regularly visits the studio. Frère Jérôme notices her talent and asks her to help him leading his workshops. The years spent at the studio left their mark on Louise Lauzon, just as Frère Jérôme, who had a great influence on the artist’s process : « Jérôme taught us how to live, to feel. Because of him, painting became a pleasure for me, a tool that enhances the pleasure of living. »
Her interests are as varied as her subjects are numerous; Lauzon couldn’t confine herself to only one style: she paints landscapes, portraits, abstractions. It goes without saying that she doesn’t limit herself to one specific medium: although she mostly works with acrylic, her paintings often contain a touch of ink, sometimes watercolours.
