Laura was born in Montreal, Canada in 1959. Trained as a commercial artist at Dawson College, she spent her early years working in illustration and design.
With a strong desire to create art that reflected her own sensibilities, she left behind the commercial world to study traditional, old master painting techniques.
Since introducing her paintings to the world, Laura has gained a reputation for creating timeless images. Her work is a blending of the old and new. A member of the International Guild of Realism, Laura den Hertog has exhibited widely in North America, and the UK. Her work is included in The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century, 2007-2010 Museum tour in the USA.
Den Hertog’s paintings have graced the covers of various magazines and books and in 2005 the artist was featured and interviewed for PBS television. The artist lives and works in a small town outside of Montreal. Her paintings can be found in exhibits and private collections worldwide.
